BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Warren Averett, LLC, Certified Public Accountants and Advisors, is pleased to announce that Thomas A. Ratcliffe, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA has partnered with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to launch the Center for Plain English Accounting (CPEA).

Founded by Ratcliffe and operating within the AICPA's Private Companies Practice Section, the CPEA's straight-forward and clear style of writing and speaking allows practitioners the opportunity to understand the applicability of technical literature when they are preparing financial statements and/or when they are auditing, reviewing, and compiling financial statements. This information assists accounting and auditing practitioners in their efforts to explain the financial statement impact of complex literature and legislation to their clients.

"I am personally very excited about this arrangement between Plain English Accounting and the AICPA," states Tom Ratcliffe. "This new venture will improve our ability to provide the benefits that AICPA members have become accustomed to receiving, and it also will expand and strengthen the benefits that they currently receive."

Ratcliffe presently serves as Senior Accounting and Auditing Technical Advisor for Warren Averett, LLC. He is Director Emeritus of the School of Accountancy at Troy University and a recipient of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants' Lifetime Achievement Award.
