AKRON, Ohio - SS&G is proud to announce the promotion of five professionals to associate director positions in its Akron office.
Beth Reho, CPA, was promoted to associate director of assurance services. Beth has more than 13 years of public accounting experience. She is experienced in serving a number of different industries, including SEC and privately held manufacturing clients, health care, transportation, and oil and gas. Beth also assists clients with analyzing business processes, identifying best practices, and researching and developing implementation strategies as related to technical pronouncements. Beth came to SS&G from Ernst & Young, where she worked in the assurance group for nine years and then as part of the global learning group, where she was responsible for the technical accounting training material which was deployed to the staff. She graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and The Ohio Society of CPAs.
Deborah Defer was promoted to associate director in charge of SS&G's QuickBooks and financial accounting solutions team (FAST). She specializes in QuickBooks administration, receivables/payables, payroll setup and processing, financial reports, and corporate and individual tax returns. Deborah spends the majority of her time consulting with clients regarding QuickBooks matters, such as training, integration of third-party applications for QuickBooks, and troubleshooting issues. Deborah earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Kent State University. She is also an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor®, Certified QuickBooks Online Pro-Advisor®, and Xero Certified.
Rhonda Miller, CPA, CITP, was promoted to associate director of assurance services. She has more than 17 years of financial accounting, tax, and business consulting experience. Rhonda consults on technology application matters related to both client software applications and internal applications for SS&G. She also performs SAS 70 audits for service organizations, which includes the assessment and testing of internal controls. Rhonda is responsible for internal training for specific software packages, as well as project management of financial statement preparation, tax return preparation and compliance, and tax and advisory services. In addition to being a CPA, she is a certified information technology professional (CITP), a CPA recognized for their technology expertise and ability to bridge the gap between business and technology. Rhonda earned her bachelor's degree in accounting and graduated with a minor in information systems from Kent State University. She is a member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and the Knowledgeable Network of Women (KNOW). Rhonda was recognized as one of The CPA Technology Advisor's 40 under 40 in 2010.
Sharon Keener, CPA, was promoted to associate director of assurance services. She has more than 15 years of experience in both public accounting and industry. Sharon works with individual and business clients, specializing in closely held businesses and start-up companies. Her responsibilities include providing clients with accounting and consulting services, compilations, reviews, financing assistance, payroll services, tax planning, and returns. Sharon earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting from The University of Akron. She is a member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and the Knowledgeable Network of Women (KNOW).
Thomas Fantin, CPA, CITP, was promoted to associate director of assurance services. Tom also works in the transaction advisory service department at SS&G, and serves the accounting and business advisory needs of middle-market companies in various industries, including restaurants, oil and gas, manufacturing/distribution, and brokers and dealers in securities. Tom's experience includes performing corporate audits, due diligence engagements, SSAE 16 engagements, audits for employee benefit plans, and providing outsourced controller services. He is a firm leader in the implementation, training, and use of data extraction software and Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs). Tom received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from The University of Akron and has obtained his Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, The Ohio Society of CPAs, and has been appointed as a CITP Champion by the AICPA. Tom is also a member of the OSCPA's Information Technology committee. He serves on the board of the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the finance committee of his church, is on the Boy Scouts of America - Great Trail Council's golf committee, and is a member of Leadership Tuscarawas' Class of 2012-2013. Tom was recognized as one of The CPA Practice Advisor's 40 under 40 in 2009 through 2013.
