NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sikich LLP, a leading professional services firm, is pleased to announce that, for the third year in a row, it has been named as one of the 2014 Best Places to Work in Illinois by The Daily Herald Business Ledger. Additionally, the firm jumped an astounding 16 spots in the Large Employers category to #5.

"At Sikich, I'm given a lot of responsibility and encouraged to ask for more responsibilities, as well. With the open door policy, I feel comfortable talking to people on many different levels, know that they genuinely care about what I have to say, and can ask for help whenever needed," said Amy Garganera, CPA, staff accountant. "My co-workers are friendly and helpful, and are always willing to explain complex ideas and situations. Plus, there is a lot of flexibility-if I have to accommodate a personal commitment, it's possible to adjust my working hours if necessary."

Sikich employees have access to important benefits that help them maintain a healthy work/life balance, such as:

  • Flexibility: Changing working hours is simple with approval. Sikich also has a flexible telecommuting policy made possible through a firm-wide instant messaging system, internal social networking and cutting-edge technology.

  • Professional development: Employees are encouraged to continually grow their knowledge, skills and networking base through the firm's internal learning and development program, Sikich University.
  • Reimbursements: Earning an advanced degree or a CPA certification is manageable with tuition reimbursements from Sikich. Employees can also receive reimbursement for costs associated with a fitness membership.
  • Time off: Vacation is important for employees to recharge so they can take on more challenges upon their return. In addition to paid time off, employees are also acknowledged for their dedication to clients and the firm and receive "Thank You" days.

Companies across Illinois entered the two-part process to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Illinois. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices and demographics, worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
