Former Baker & McKenzie partner will help assess potential acquisitions
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sikich LLP, a leading professional services firm specializing in accounting, technology, investment banking and advisory services, recently named Sarah Harris as the firm's general counsel.
Prior to Sikich, Harris served as a partner at Baker & McKenzie LLP, an associate at Mayer Brown LLP and vice president and general counsel of The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.
Harris has expertise in mergers and acquisitions, private equity fund formation and regulation and general corporate and securities transactions and counseling. In her new role, Harris will act as the chief legal officer and manage all regulatory matters related to the firm's numerous practice areas. Specifically, she will focus on risk assessment as Sikich continues to grow and acquire other companies.
"Our firm has doubled in size over the last few years, enabling us to offer our clients increased value and a broader service offering," said Jim Sikich, CEO of Sikich LLP. "Sarah's ability to provide best-in-class counsel across a wide variety of legal issues will ensure that we comply with all rules and regulations and take advantage of strategic growth opportunities at the right time moving forward."
Harris regularly speaks at conferences and events around the country, including Information Management Network (IMN) real estate opportunity fund conferences, where she lectures about legal issues relevant to private equity funds. In addition, she speaks at various National Bar Association conferences about international transactions along with acquisitions for medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
She is passionate about serving her community and has served as a LINK Unlimited Scholars mentor for seven years. The organization is a high school scholarship and mentoring program for disadvantaged African-American youth in Chicago.
For the past nine years, she has also worked with The Law Project as part of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Inc. The project's staff and volunteer attorneys provide free, expert legal assistance to support community development efforts led by entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations in underserved Chicago neighborhoods that cannot afford legal services.
