SAN FRANCISCO,- Burr Pilger Mayer, Inc. one of the largest California based accounting, tax and consulting firms, is pleased to announce that Michael Schaffer, Tax Director, will be leading our not-for-profit tax team following the retirement of John Panetta from BPM.

Michael has been working with Not-for-Profit organizations, both in serving their tax needs and in sitting on their Boards, for his entire career in Public Accounting. He is passionate about helping clients use their tax reporting responsibilities to their best advantage ... often with the goal of increasing their funding.

He has been in public accounting for more than 30 years with both local and national firms, prior to which he served for three years as a Revenue Agent for the IRS. Michael holds a Master of Science in Taxation and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).

We believe that Michael's prior experience, including his time with the IRS, will prove invaluable in helping our clients and team navigate the many regulations that govern Not-for Profit returns. We look forward to Michael's leadership and his help in growing our nonprofit practice.
