Scottsdale - Candace Tooke, Partner, took a step back in time to volunteer at Colonial Day at Cheyenne Traditional School, where her daughter attends.
The 5th graders had been learning about colonial life in the classroom and were given the chance to find out first-hand how early colonists lived. Tooke and her mother helped facilitate activities such as quilting, candle making and ink quilling and even dressed the part.
More than 50 parents volunteered at the day-long event and also donated money to help make the activities possible.
Fountain Hills-February 10, 2015-Christine Brueser, Partner, teamed up with the 100 Women Who Care Valley of the Sun to make a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Desert Southwest Chapter.
The group nominated six charities and then used a voting process to determine which organization would receive a $10,300 donation. Each of the 103 members of the 100 Women Who Care Valley of the Sun donated $100 to JDRF - DSW.
The donation will send local children with Type 1 Diabetes to Camp Soaring Eagle for one week over the summer. The camp provides the healing power of laugher to thousands of seriously ill children by giving them the opportunity to go to a medically supervised camp at no cost to the campers and their families.
