MarksNelson Member Provided Counsel at the Business Ownership Succession Planning Seminar
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Rob Metcalf, partner and administrator of the business valuation practice at MarksNelson accounting and consulting firm, gave a presentation at this year's Business Ownership Succession Planning Seminar in Overland Park, Kan. The full-day seminar was hosted by the National Business Institute (NBI), a provider of continuing legal education and training dedicated to providing seminars, online courses, webcasts and more.
Metcalf was one of seven speakers at NBI's Overland Park seminar, and brought a unique perspective as the only accountant on the panel of attorneys. His presentation titled "Valuing Closely Held Companies" focused on how businesses are valued, financial analyses, methods and approaches, increasing business value, discounts, cash flows, taxes and more.
"It was a privilege to participate in the Business Ownership Succession Planning Seminar. The participants appreciated the information presented and felt the subject matter would bring additional value to their clients," said Metcalf.
The intermediate level seminar was designed for attorneys, Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and accountants, registered tax return preparers, financial planners, investment advisors and insurance professionals. Its primary goal is to prepare attendees for the challenges of assisting clients with their ownership succession plans, maximize the value they receive from the sale of their businesses and protect their newly-realized wealth.
Since joining MarksNelson in 1995, Metcalf has been involved in hundreds of valuations of companies across a wide span of industries. He also provides litigation support and forensic accounting services. Metcalf has been a practicing CPA since 1985. This was his 24th speaking engagement during his tenure at MarksNelson and his ninth at a National Business Institute-sponsored event.
