Mesa — Elizabeth Bolt, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, and Rebekah Runnels, Administrative Assistant, stepped out to take part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Mesa.
More than 13,000 people turned out for the event at the Cubs Spring Training Facility. Bolt and Runnels participated in the 5K to help raise awareness and money because they both have had type 1 diabetes for 25 years.
The team they participated on raised more than $1,100, while the overall event raised $653,800. All proceeds go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research.
