Michael Herber and Matt Schulte Join Program Hosted by the Kansas Society of CPAs to Enhance Leadership Skills, Network with Top Accounting Industry Professionals and Educators
Kansas City, Mo. - Michael Herber and Matt Schulte, professionals at MarksNelson accounting and consulting firm, have been selected to participate in the Kansas Society of CPAs (KSCPA) 2015-2016 "20 up to 40" Leadership Program.
The "20 up to 40" program serves to develop and enhance leadership skills amongst accounting professionals under 40 years old. The program provides networking opportunities, includes courses from top leadership educators, group activities, participation in KSCPA leadership activities and social dinner events throughout the state through five unique multi-day sessions.
"We are proud that Michael and Matt have been selected for participation in "20 up to 40" as we believe both of these emerging leaders will grow from their experiences in the program," said Managing Member Mark Radetic. "They are extremely hard working and appreciated by their clients, and we are excited about this opportunity for them."
Leadership sessions begin in July, when participants will learn about and begin work on a class project. Additional development sessions take place at locations throughout the state of Kansas in September, October, January and June, when the class project is finalized and presented to KSCPA leaders. Sessions focus on a variety of topics from general leadership development to legislative awareness. Graduates of the "20 up to 40" program must attend four of the five sessions throughout the year.
Herber serves as a supervisor at MarksNelson, where he manages over 100 clients. He reviews tax returns for individuals, partnerships and corporations, supervises tax staff and provides additional client services such as research, consulting and planning.
"I am honored to have been chosen to participate in this leadership program," Herber said. "I look forward to strengthening my leadership skills, and work with some of the best CPAs in our state."
As an audit supervisor at MarksNelson, Schulte brings more than seven years of experience in helping small to medium sized companies with financial analysis, reporting, auditing and strategic planning.
For the seventh annual program, events will be led by some of the top professionals in the country. Through the program, participants will have the opportunity to network with KSCPA and American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) leaders.
KSCPA created the program to invest in and develop the next generation of KSCPA leaders and has been successful in doing so. Many of the 122 alumni of the program serve on the KSCPA Board of Directors, serve as Steering Committee and Task Force Chairs, and frequently present at conferences and events. Some alumni have also been chosen to participate in the AICPA Leadership Academy, and one, Dominic Ortiz, serves as a Member-as-Large of the AICPA Council.
