Buffalo, NY - Freed Maxick CPAs, P.C. has announced a new position in the Firm, Professional Development Officer, filled by Janice Moceri, CPA. The role will focus solely on Firm-wide professional development, career counseling, and mentoring and training of employees. Previously Moceri was a Senior Manager in the Audit Department of the Firm.
"The fruition of this specific position was unique in the sense that it was a hybrid - we knew it was something we wanted to implement, but we also listened to our employees through all of the different internal communication programs we have with them - they were truly the drivers to create this" states Richard J. Wright, Jr., CPA, a tax director at Freed Maxick and the head of the HR department. "As directors of the firm we are confident that this role will best serve our people, and will help with their career development path - whatever that may be. It was a natural transition for us and Janice was the perfect fit, and has the aptitude and temperament for it."
Moceri is a graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She joined the Firm after four years with PricewaterhouseCoopers and concentrated in the employee benefit plan, manufacturing, real estate and not-for-profit services areas. She's also heavily involved in the community currently serving as the Vice President of the WNY PKU (Phenylketonuria) Association, and was previously the treasurer of Young Audiences of Western New York, in addition to serving on both their finance and executive committees.
"I am honored and privileged to have this opportunity to facilitate and further the Firm's professional development initiatives," says Moceri. "I find personal satisfaction in helping others succeed, and it has always been a passion of mine to mentor individuals through their professional careers, and align their goals and desires with the Firms."
Michelle Sullivan, Director and head of the Firm's EARN initiative (Employee Advancement and Retention Network), states "As a Firm we pride ourselves on our commitment to developing others, and ourselves. Transitioning Janice to this role ensures that we are continuing to invest in our employees, and providing them with the best possible training, education, and opportunity to further their professional path."
