In his role as Chairman, Direct Tax Committee, Mr. Chopra recently represented the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, India at a meeting with the Union Minister of State for Finance, Government of India on Thursday, 30th June 2016. The meeting was organized by the government to discuss issues & receive suggestions on the Income Declaration Scheme 2016 - a one-time compliance window provided to domestic black money holders to pay their taxes and escape harsher penalties.


The Income Declaration Scheme 2016 was announced in the Union Budget for 2016-17 and became operational on June 1 and will be open till September 30. It allows domestic black money holders to declare unaccounted wealth and come clean by paying a tax and penalty of 45 per cent.
