Sharp Rise in Firms Embracing Responsive Web Design, Social and Premium Content

 

Cleveland – Skoda Minotti Strategic Marketing has released the results of its 2016 CPA Website Audit. The second annual website audit, the only survey of its kind in the CPA industry, provides a detailed analysis of the top 133 CPA firms’ websites in the U.S.

 

As part of the CPA website review, over 20 metrics were examined for common practices among the industry leaders’ websites. Some notable results included:

  • Nearly 100% Increase in Responsive Website Design: In 2015, only 38% of websites surveyed implemented responsive design; in 2016 that number has nearly doubled to 68%.
  • Increase in Blogging: In 2015, 65% of websites surveyed had a blog; in 2016, that number increased to 86%; of those with blogs, the number with an active blog increased sharply to 71%.
  • Significant Adoption of Premium Content: The number of sites promoting premium content increased to nearly 50% in the 2016 survey, up sharply from only 15% in 2015.
  • Low Paid Search Adoption: Only 19% of the sites surveyed utilize paid search as a promotional channel. 

"The results of the audit demonstrate that the top CPA firms in the country are all starting to leverage inbound marketing strategies as meaningful part of their marketing strategies,” said Jonathan Ebenstein, partner and managing director of Skoda Minotti Strategic Marketing. “More CPA firms are driving traffic to their sites by utilizing multiple tools and channels available to them. Firms that are not yet providing responsive design, optimizing social media channels, and delivering quality content will not be able to keep pace with their competitors. We also see opportunity for CPA firms to improve their lead generation efforts with more paid search and premium content.”
