San Francisco, Calif. – BPM was recently recognized as the winner of the ELEVATE Break the Ceiling: Corporate Leadership Award, at the 2nd Annual Gala Honoring Diversity & Women's Leadership in Commercial Real Estate. This honor is awarded to a company that promotes equality in the workplace and that has strong programs in place to advance women and/or culturally diverse employees within the commercial real estate industry. BPM was the only CPA firm included among the thirteen firms nominated for this award.

“We are honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Jackie Matsumura, Partner at BPM and co-leader of the Firm’s Real Estate Industry Group. “Our recognition speaks to the core values of our Firm and the out-of-the-box and cutting edge ideas that are supported by our partners, recognizing that we must continuously adapt to change.”

Since its inception in 1986, BPM has identified diversity and inclusion as a key driver of innovation and business growth – with 55% of the Firm’s senior managers or directors comprised of women and 24% of its partners as women.

“Our Real Estate group is comprised of individuals from different practice groups, levels of experience and backgrounds – this is what makes our team strong and what enables us to provide our real estate clients with a diverse range of services and perspectives,” added Mark Leverette, co-leader of BPM’s Real Estate Industry Group.

BPM’s commitment to equal opportunity in the workplace is well established. The Firm was voted as one of the “Best Public Accounting Firms for Women” by the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance and American Women’s Society of CPAs for the second year in a row. Most recently, BPM ranked as the number one “Best Firm to Work for” in the nation, in the Large Firm Category by Accounting Today.

Through BPM’s Women’s Initiative Now! (WIN) program, the firm focused on opportunities that enhance gender diversity in leadership roles within BPM and in the community. Specifically, program goals are designed to: (1) ensure a culture that enhances the retention and recruitment of women employees; (2) enhances personal development at different stages of women’s careers and; (3) increases the awareness of female success.
