Milwaukee – Former Enron Chief Financial Officer Andrew Fastow will be the guest presenter at an event, “Ethical Decisions amid Accounting Ambiguity,” Wednesday, June 21 at the BMO Training Center, 395 N. Executive Drive, Brookfield. A continental breakfast and social will be offered at 7:30 a.m. and the presentation will follow from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
Fastow will share his story of structured finance transactions gone wrong, and how approaches being used today by corporations the world over could be deemed ethically questionable. Fastow will discuss the steps he took in using the ambiguity among complex accounting, tax and securities rules to Enron’s advantage until it led to one of the largest accounting frauds in history. Participants will learn how having the right perspective and striving to preserve the intentions behind the rules can help them avoid the same mistakes.
The event is co-sponsored by BMO Harris Bank, The Horton Group and Schenck.
