Atlanta, GA - Brady Ware & Company is pleased to announce that Donna Manuels graduated from the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Academy.
Donna was nominated to participate in the North Fulton Leadership Academy in 2016 by Kathy Swahn, Executive Director of The Drake House in Roswell.
Leadership North Fulton (LNF) identifies and develops leaders in the North Fulton area by promoting community awareness, instilling civic responsibility, and building relationships. This nine month program, sponsored by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, selects individuals from all backgrounds, companies, and organizations. The program commences in September and concludes in June each year.
Thirty members of the community from different professions were chosen to participate this year. They were split up in teams of five and asked on their initial retreat to choose a nonprofit to work with and decide how they could best support the organization for years to come. Donna’s team chose Project Lift, a Roswell-based organization that mentors and empowers the community’s youth to be self-confident adults. After meeting with the board of Project Lift, the team decided to help with the organization’s annual fundraiser, find additional mentors for the upcoming school year, and secure a corporate sponsor for the organization.
“The annual fundraiser was a huge success,” says Donna. “Our team managed to secure six local restaurants who donated all of the food for the event; whereas in the past, the organization had spent their own money to provide food. We also reached out to the community for silent auction items, and we had so many offers, we had to turn some away.”
After all was said and done, Donna’s team raised over $15,000 dollars for Project Lift, which was three times the funds raised the prior year. Her team also secured two new mentors for the upcoming school year and found two new corporate sponsors: Wells Fargo and State Farm.
In addition to the project they worked on for nine months, they attended monthly classes that highlighted the working mechanics of the North Fulton community. They took trips to the governmental agencies, the public safety training center, met with city officials, and toured local technology companies in the area.
“Leadership North Fulton was a great experience to learn more about the community I work and live in,” says Donna. “And it was a great opportunity to make many new connections.”
