150,000 sq. ft. Office Supports Physical and Technological Growth and Enhanced Client Service
Denver, CO – Since 1994 EKS&H has operated from its headquarters at 7979. E. Tufts Ave. When the firm first moved into that building, the offices took up half of one floor. After expansions through more than five additional floors, and office openings in Boulder, Fort Collins, San Francisco, and downtown Denver, it came time to explore a new facility solution for the majority of the firm’s 700 employees.
The new six story LEED certified building, at 8181 E. Tufts Ave. Ste. 600, Denver, CO 80237-2521, while only a short walk from the previous location, is miles away in terms of innovative technology, collaborative office space, and healthy ways to work.
“For a business like EKS&H, technology is central to nearly everything we do,” said Director of Internal Technology, Duane Squier. “Our employees and clients require reliable, fast, and secure technology, and our new office provides today’s state of the art solutions, as well as the flexibility to update and change those systems with future developments.”
Technology improvements include wireless connectivity throughout the building, including all meeting rooms, 50+ “huddle” rooms, and all workstations; a multi-million dollar training center with significant audio-visual investment, comprised of video conferencing based on Skype for Business and PolyCom® RealPresence Trio ™, ceiling projector arrays, SHARP Aquos Capacitive Touch Displays, Crestron® lighting controls, and Steelcase Thread Portable Power Distribution system; improved data security and guest network access; an IT “Service Bar” to address technology issues; and streaming Comcast feeds throughout the building.
EKS&H Facilities Manager Darci Baldwin shares the excitement among employees. “The design of the new office was based on over two years’ worth of feedback gathered during focus groups and surveys,” said Darci. “Some of the things employees and clients asked for–and they will get–include abundant natural light, a greater variety of meeting spaces designed for teamwork and cooperation, and a brighter design and more modern feel.”
Facility improvements aimed at supporting health and wellness include a centralization of offices to maximize light flow; automatic light sensors that save electricity and support natural circadian rhythm; walking workstations and wellness rooms on every floor; 100% sit-to-stand, ergonomic workstations; and EKS&H FIT, a fitness facility that includes a WellBeats video library, 9 cardio machines with built in video, GymRacks, and group class space. The new building also features a cafe with fresh, healthy food options, games, and an outdoor garden deck to formal and informal gathering.
According to CEO Bob Hottman central to the planning of the new office was the firm philosophy that its people are its greatest asset. “We know that working in an effective, efficient, and attractive environment, improves the productivity of our employees and promotes inspiring work. When that is the kind of service we can deliver, there is a direct and immediate result for our clients. Everyone at EKS&H is excited about this new chapter in our history.”
